So. This is us just shaking the tree a bit to see what falls out. Or something like. Because we would love to know, what are you all working on? Or what are you stuck on and wanting ideas on how to shake loose. Not becuase we are going to have all the answers for that one, because we won't. But because we heard there is a collection of creative people somewhere around here and some of them might have a thought, or a line, or a question even that moves things to a different line that could be useful.
Most of our creative energy is going into three very different sets of poems. One rifting off of short bios of female saints and blesseds. The other rifting off of the cards in our deck. Those are the easy ones. Read a bio or pull a card and then write a poem. Easy stuff that. Just takes a while as we can get sidetracked and all. The harder one is to complete a shorter arc of nine poems. we know where it starts. we know where it ends. We have a rough idea what will cover the arc from point A to point b. we just really need to sit down and map that arc as it cycles down.
And that is just the tip of all the projects we need to work on. Some of them aren't quite so creative sad to say. Some of them are nuts and bolts every day stuff that isn't very sexy.
The grind of job applications and brushing up on skills no longer used much. We still aren't very good at lists. But anyhow, we would love to hear who is still around, and what you are working on, or if life keeps stealing your time or spoons, what would you like to be working on.....

Date: 2011-09-13 06:16 am (UTC)We could use a bit of inspiration, not to mention some confidence in ourselves. But you know already that we kind of crashed in that department. If we had the spoons we'd be painting, doing knotwork, and fleshing out a certain RP plot...

Date: 2011-09-13 11:47 am (UTC)One of the fundamental conceits is done as a deconstruction of the Bene Gesserit. In the early Empire that discovers Cross-Time technology the idea emerges of Paragons representing various abstractions. Ultimately only one Paragon-society, the one most hated and feared and predicted to fail in its time, the Architects of Fear, succeeds. They create both metanormals and ultimately the Omega Program, only for them to see their dream of peace via a Soldier to End Worlds fall apart when the technology begins to proliferate.
Another is to avoid the Roman Empire/Nazi German influence that reflects in so many space opera empires and to instead turn to the Chinese Empire and Osterreich-Ungarn, the *other* German Empire people tend to forget about. With the civil war that forms key backstory to the main tales being the second of two wars, the first of which is akin to the Spanish Civil War, the second to the Russian Civil War.
The cosmology of the Tales is a complicated one, the Omniverse is Azathoth's dream and Azathoth will at some point awaken and everything in the Omniverse but he himself disappear. That's inevitable and his courtiers, including Nyarlathotep, cannot stop it from unfolding. His dream itself unfolds in a series of cycles pitting Big Bads and Big Goods against each other, the most ancient Big Bad being Cxaxukluth and the most ancient Big Good Yog-Sothoth, and so on to the present day when Angra Mainyu, the paragon of evil in Christianity and Zoroastrianism is opposed to the Universal King, a Benevolent Lawful Good Eldritch Abomination. The Christian God is a local species-and-culture-within-species entity, Mainyu is a Cosmic one.

Date: 2011-09-13 11:39 pm (UTC)On Original works, we're trying to figure out our unanswered questions for our NaNoWriMo preparations mostly (like what exactly the Forgotten Game is/was since it's the foundation of the whole story arc; and who the mysterious entity known as "The GameMaker" is... and why the Twilight Witch is also known as the Broken Dreamer).
In fandom stuff, we're also working on a couple mixes for
