kissing down on a red earth
and the trees and buildings
are all red too

and you remember
that once somewhere
there was another colour
or three along the way
something about a diamond gold

but that is a memory and dust
and all you have is a red world
the memory that once
there were stars
that have folded into
the red sky

the birds in the air
folded into the trees
folded into the animals
and the seven seas
all red
all gone

the city painted red
fades into the night you painted
til you are alone
in a sea of swirling red
no neighbours or traffic
or even red lights
just that endless void of red

your skin is red
flesh sliding into red
muscle and bone
nerves pulsing now the red
that your eyes now gone
no longer see

it is all now red
everything is gone
all you feel is that endless
swirling void of red
there is no self
just the endless sea of red
closing in and carrying you away
til there is nothing
not even red

and you awake
and it's a red sky
